About Amy Lord

Amy Lord is a writer, facilitator and freelance arts marketer from North East England. Her debut novel, The Disappeared, was first in 2019 and was reissued by SRL Publishing in 2024.

She won a Northern Writers’ Award in for The Disappeared and was also longlisted in the inaugural Bath Novel Award. An earlier manuscript saw her shortlisted for Route Publishing’s Young Yorkshire Author Award.

Amy is currently working on a new novel. She also writes short stories and flash fiction and has had work published by Reflex Fiction, The London Reader and Palm-Sized Press. Her story, Mrs McKinnon Retired on Friday, was a finalist in the Mslexia Short Story Prize in 2023 and she came third in the 2024 Dinesh Allirajah Prize for Short Fiction, run by Comma Press. Her work has been supported by grant funding from the Society of Authors and Arts Council England.

She also leads writing workshops and mentors emerging northern writers. Amy was Writer in Residence for the 2025 Crossing the Tees Festival and New Writing North’s Durham Writes project.
